Rahima Akter Khushi is a Rohingya student who currently living in Bangladesh refugee camp in Cox’s Bazaar. She draws the huge media attention when a Cox’s Bazaar university expelled her for being a Rohingya girl as Rohingyas can’t take formal education outside of the camp in Bangladesh.

Rahima Akter Khushi Early Life & Education:

Rahima Akter Khushi was born on March 15, 1999, in Kutupalong Refugee Camp, Bangladesh. There is no details information about her parents but it is reported that her parents fled from Myanmar following Military Junta’s atrocities in 1992. She is a registered refugee and granted legal refugee status unlike over 750,000 Rohingya fled into Bangladesh in 2017.

Bangladesh prohibits taking formal education for Rohingya people as many Rohingya people hide their identity and produced forged birth registration card to take education like her.

Rahima Akter Khushi completed SSC from Baitush Sharif Jabbaria Academy and HSC from Cox’s Bazar Government Women’s College. Then she enrolled Cox’s Bazar International University (CBIU), the only private university in Cox’s Bazaar.

She was suspended from the university when her interview video on AP went viral. She is a first-year student at the university following it found that she belongs to an ethnic Rohingya community.
